Snuggles

Ro this morning our alpha female opened the den and my brothers and I got to join her for a little morning snuggle. Nothing better I like than curling up against my pack leaders. The best part of the day came later, when I overheard her saying that I was the best snuggler. At the risk of seeming immodest, she is right: nodog can snuggle better than me!

Lucky Loki

Resterday, I received two treats, one mini bone, and one chewy. In between all those I slept. All in all, it was a pretty good day. One of my brothers (I'm not certain which one, because I was in the other room sleeping) vomitted. My day was definitely better than his. But wait! Check out Loki, a legend in the canine world who recently starred in a brief news story. He's the IronDog, going out there day after day and doing what he has to. I hope when I get older I'll be just like him.

Last Night

Ry brother Max is an escape dog. He can get out of anything. I am one step ahead of him. I avoid being put in anything in the first place. Often I lie still, the way I learned to do in Dog Scouts if Smokey the Bear ever comes after me. Sometimes I can pretend to be asleep and not hear the command at all. But one of the best ways to keep out is by rendering myself impossible to locate. I am a stealth dog.

Last night, when it came time to retire, I hid under the desk of my pack leader. Then when he opened the door to get something, I slipped out and slunk to his bed. The alpha female was already there, and I joined her as if all was normal. She tried to get me to retreat, but I acted like she was a bear. Then when my pack leader came in, I snuggled comfortably between them and settled down for a long winter's snooze.

Nothing like sleeping in the cushy den of the pack leader.

Perchance to Dream

Rell, my pack leaders were home all of Sunday, so I was kept mighty busy. There were chores to be done, and I helped out as usual. I took out the garbage (though I do that most every day) and chewed it up. I enjoy having them around, but sometimes they wear my paws to the bone. All that activity cut into my sleep time, and I had a lot to make up on Monday. And there I was, sprawled out on my couch, dreaming of the Eukanuba Championships, and just when I was mounting the podium to accept my Golden Bone, the bird started squawking and woke me up. Growl!

Relcome!

I'm Jake, the Blog Dog.

I'll keep you up to date on all the events in my sleepy world. You'll meet some of my friends, and my heroes. I might even include some recipes for dog chow. So grab your favorite bone, and enjoy.

Today, just to get things started, I thought I'd share a self-portrait in the newest snow storm.
