Rappy Birthday!

Today my pack leader learned he shouldn't trust a dog to guard his birthday cake. Yum!

Under the Weather

Thank Dog I was sleeping in the den with my pack leader and alpha female last night. The biggest crash of thunder I ever heard woke us. I was lying at the foot of the bed, so I crawled right up between them where it was safe and warm. We all lay there a few minutes, and then another crash of thunder happened. That was when my brother Max came running in to join us! Now I have mentioned Max before: he is the escape dog. He went to sleep last night behind the gate, and somehow was now on the other side with us. When we all went to check it out, nothing was amiss, my other brother Buddy was still on the other side of the gate. Somehow Max had slipped under a space that was no more than six paws high. Yet he is the biggest of all of us. Now I have seen Buddy flatten out like that to retrieve a ball that has rolled under a bed. I really think Max has some kind of special powers. That would also explain why he thinks he should have all the treats.

Top Five Treats

Ra list of top five treats as sniffed by me:

1. Popcorn (the real stuff is the best, but I can also settle for Pupcorn)
2. Mini Bones (the personal-size rawhide bones)
3. Carrots (again, the mini ones)
4. Kong Stuff Peanut Butter Paste (this is what I get, but I'm sure I could make do with regular peanut butter right from the jar)
5. almost anything else I can get my tongue on

Snuggles

Ro this morning our alpha female opened the den and my brothers and I got to join her for a little morning snuggle. Nothing better I like than curling up against my pack leaders. The best part of the day came later, when I overheard her saying that I was the best snuggler. At the risk of seeming immodest, she is right: nodog can snuggle better than me!

Lucky Loki

Resterday, I received two treats, one mini bone, and one chewy. In between all those I slept. All in all, it was a pretty good day. One of my brothers (I'm not certain which one, because I was in the other room sleeping) vomitted. My day was definitely better than his. But wait! Check out Loki, a legend in the canine world who recently starred in a brief news story. He's the IronDog, going out there day after day and doing what he has to. I hope when I get older I'll be just like him.

Last Night

Ry brother Max is an escape dog. He can get out of anything. I am one step ahead of him. I avoid being put in anything in the first place. Often I lie still, the way I learned to do in Dog Scouts if Smokey the Bear ever comes after me. Sometimes I can pretend to be asleep and not hear the command at all. But one of the best ways to keep out is by rendering myself impossible to locate. I am a stealth dog.

Last night, when it came time to retire, I hid under the desk of my pack leader. Then when he opened the door to get something, I slipped out and slunk to his bed. The alpha female was already there, and I joined her as if all was normal. She tried to get me to retreat, but I acted like she was a bear. Then when my pack leader came in, I snuggled comfortably between them and settled down for a long winter's snooze.

Nothing like sleeping in the cushy den of the pack leader.
